Did You Know That Libels Has an Orchestra?
Did you know that our school has an orchestra as an extracurricular? Well, maybe you didn't, because the aforementioned activities have just been held recently (and doesn't even have a name yet), about around a month and a half ago. First of all, an orchestra is an instrumental ensemble typically of classical western music, with the majority, consisted of instruments from the bowed string instruments families. Based on its size, an orchestra is differentiated into 3 types. The smallest of its kind is called a "chamber" orchestra which has up to 50 members, the next size up is the "sinfonietta" and the full size of an orchestra called a symphony that has about 80 to 100 musicians. Our school's orchestra categorized itself as the smallest one, the chamber orchestra. the sad news is that the members of the extracurricular aren't even passed ten counts yet, with only about 9 members around.
With that fact, we could conclude that our orchestra is still in an extremely early stage and direly need for more peoples to joins. During one of my interviews with Mr. Yayan, the school's orchestra instructor, I happen to ask whether if it's okay for anybody to join the group even without any prior musical knowledge or the proper equipment. he firmly said, "yes, it is okay for anybody to join even if they don't know what is an orchestra in the first place as long as they have a passion and a desire to learn. regarding the equipment, your school would lend it to you albeit the amounts are not much". The extracurricular itself held weekly every Friday from 03.30 to 05.00 p.m.
afterword facts:
The word orchestra itself comes from the actual space in which an orchestra plays; originating from a Greek word "orkhestra" means "a space where a chorus of dancers performs," from orkheisthai, "to dance.". The first modern orchestra came in the early 17th century when an Italian composer Claudio Montverdi decided to assign specific instruments for a specific notes and has since taken its roots in the western music world.
