August 17th is known as Indonesia's Independence Day and always celebrated in every region. One of them is Surabaya City which biggest celebration is held at The City Hall. Khansa Hasna N.K. (17), a student of SMAN 15 Surabaya, shared her experiences about being part of flag hoisting troops in Surabaya City Hall. She is one of two students who represented Libels Paskibraka, a flag hoisting troops organization from her school.

"I couldn't forget the hard times I had. At the first day of selection, we got interview test and height measurement. The day two, there was physical test. We had to do push up for a minute and to do run about 12 minutes. I've never expected if I did it."She said.

There was only 100 from 700 person who passed selection. Then, they had to join the training from 2nd until 16th of August. The training began 06.00 A.M. until 07.30 P.M. they were given tasks too. It made Khansa absent from school for a while. she often slept in the midnight. Even their coaches yelled at them because of some mistakes they made, it's really encourage Khansa to increase her efforts more and more. Especially, at 14-16 of August, she stayed in the training place during that time. the purpose was to keep their performance maximally.

And it happened! They're all were performing much better than they could imagine. They showed their best in front of Surabaya's Mayor City, Tri Risma Harini. It was great celebration in Surabaya City Hall. For Khansa, it's really satisfying because her sacrification was paid off.

"It's undescribable feelings, but importantly, I'm so thankful, about the lessons, memories, experiences, and all of the supports from my family, teachers, and my friends. " she added.

We're all must proud of the things she did. Khansa has shown her contribution for school obviously. It's one of SMAN 15 Surabaya's achievement that you can find many more inside.
