Anabel is an acronym of "Angklung Ansambel Libels", that is one of the extracurricular in SMAN 15 Surabaya or commonly known as Libels. Even though the acronym stands for Angklung, they also play musical instruments called Kolintang in this extracurricular. Why is the name of the extracurricular does not include Kolintang? I sought the answer by interviewing one of the Anabel members. She said that in the beginning there used to be only one kind of musical instrument, Angklung. Afterward, because the extracurricular had been developing, the school party had bought Kolintang for them. Starting from then, Anabel has been playing two musical instruments, which is Angklung and Kolintang.

Anabel is coached by Mr. Yono. They usually practice every Saturday, starting from 10.00 until 11.30 AM, but when they are preparing for a contest or an event, they will train thrice a week and then they will train every day when they are two weeks away from the contest.

Two years ago, Anabel got 2nd place in Angklung contest and 3rd place in Kolintang contest in THR (Taman Hiburan Remaja). However, because THR has not been operating since last year, Anabel has not been able to found another contest yet. But no need to worry, even if Anabel does not participate in any contest, they are still performing frequently in events such as PENS, Dentine, Liberty, LEO, STATION, FIRST, The Prophet's Birthday, and Graduation.

To join this extracurricular, you don't have to be the expert of Angklung or Kolintang because you are going to be taught from scratch and still allowed to perform in an event alternately.
