Maybe for some people when they hear "ANABEL", what comes to mind are the characters from scary horror films. This is not a characters from scary horror films, but this is an extracurricular offering an experience of learning Indonesian culture with a modern twist.

Anabel is music extracurricular that plays angklung and kolintang ensembles at SMAN 15 Surabaya. Anabel has been around since 2010. Starting with having a rudimentary angklung, Anabel proved that they were able to contribute to SMAN 15 Surabaya. After a few years, finally Anabel has a set of kolintang and can combine two traditional musical instruments.

Lots of achievements achieved by ANABEL, including :

2nd place Angklung at Angklung and Kolintang Music Competition in East Java level

3rd place Kolintang at Angklung and Kolintang Music Competition in East Java level

and many others

Besides joining the competition, Anabel also fills in various activities. An example is Anabel filled in DENTINE 2017, an event organized by the Faculty of Dentistry at Airlangga University. Anabel also took part in internal events held by SMA 15 Surabaya, such as Libels Party, Limit 2019, and others event.

One member of the extracurricular said if she join this extracurricular because she wants to improve her music and to preserve Indonesian Culture. She also said if activities in this extracurricular did not distrub her. She was very pleased to be able to take a part in preservation of Indonesian Culture

With a series of activities attended by Anabel's extracurricular members, this shows that the spirit of preserving culture in Indonesia can still be fostered through various means. In the midst of busy learning at school, these extracurricular members remain eager to practice and learn to play angklung and kolintang. Not only to release fatigue, they also want to preserve Indonesian culture and innovate in arrangements. This can be proven by the arrangement of pop and western songs that can be played.
