Utilization of Technology in Literacy Culture at SMAN 15 SURABAYA
In the current era of globalization, information is important. Communities are required to be able to adapt technological progress and renewal / up to date. The Prague Declaration (Unesco, 2003) emphasizes the importance of information literacy, namely the ability to search, understand, critically evaluate, and manage information into useful knowledge for the development of his personal and social life
Literacy is inseparable from the world of education. Literacy is a means for students to get to know, understand, and apply the knowledge they get in school. Literacy is also related to the lives of students both at home and in the surrounding environment.
Unfortunately the reality shows that the reading interest in Indonesia is low. This is evidenced by research from Central Connecticut State University in March 2016, which ranked Indonesia 60th out of 61 countries in terms of public interest in reading.

Seeing this reality, the school literacy movement should have a special strategy so that students' reading abilities can be improved. Schools should have readiness to improve the culture of school literacy. This readiness includes the readiness of school capacity (availability of facilities, reading material and infrastructure), readiness of school residents and the readiness of other support systems. It is time for the world of education to realize that in today's modern society, students are required to be able to face increasingly competitive competition, both at home and abroad.
The efforts that can be done to improve the culture of reading students, is the use of technology. This reminds the development of technology and media that require the ability of students to be integrated, focusing on aspects of creativity, communication skills, critical thinking skills, and one important thing is the ability to use media safely. Here it is necessary to provide guidance in the use of technolgy, so students are not trapped in the negative impact of technological development. This coaching is more demonstrated so that students can utilize technology properly, and in positive activities.

This matter has already been implemented in SMAN 15 Surabaya. One of them is by organizing the SASISABU ( Satu Siswa Satu Buku ) program which is a website that accomodates student papers with the aim of enhancing literacy culture in Indonesia, as I have done this. With the guidance of an English teacher at school. Each student is required to make an article containing a story about SMAN 15 Surabaya in English. It aims to improve literacy skills, improve English language skills and develop creativity in writing.
Good use of technology is expected to improve literacy culture in the school environment in particular and society in general. This means that somehow the door to education in Indonesia can be awakened from its downturn and ready to face competition in this globalization era.
