It was a total catastrophe. Everything is on fire, human mages and knights coming from the North, and mythical creatures coming from the South. They are all coming to the middle for a showdown for the divine weapon that can control the world and many other mysterious capabilities.

In the middle of all this, Raven is cornered with no way out. Ashes covered her whole body and face; thank goodness she only has some minor wounds. Her teary eyes wandered around looking for Klaus or anyone she can recognize, and she shouted in despair,

“I WANT TO GO HOME!”

∼3 weeks ago∼

The sun peeked through the curtains of a certain someone’s room, accompanied by the sound of a blaring alarm from their phone, waking them up from their blissful slumber. Raven yawned and rubbed the sleep from her eyes and grabbed her phone to turn off the alarm and check for any new messages or notifications. She stayed in her bed scrolling through her social media for about 15 minutes until she realized she might be late for her last class before the summer break. Hurriedly, she went to take a shower and get ready to go and noticed that her roommate/best friend was already up and making breakfast for the two.

“Finally, I thought you would wake up late again today,” Allison said with a teasing tone and smirk. Raven could only roll her eyes in response, and they mostly ate in silence.

While on her way to the bus, she saw a flyer on the wall with some bizarre illustrations and bold red writing “The Magical Laundromat is HIRING”. She thought it would be a good idea to find a job for the summer, as she can gain some extra money and have some activities to do.

The classes finished in a breeze, and the summer break has officially started. Most of the students around the campus are talking excitedly with each other about their summer plans and where there are going, there are also some whose looking forward to a night of good restful sleep and lazing around. Raven walked home with her head full of ideas and things to do in the summer, then she remembered that she wanted to apply for that job at the laundromat and work there for half of her summer vacation.

The bell rang as she opened the door, indicating that someone had entered the place. It’s silent other than the sound of the washing machines and some kid running around. She went straight to the front desk/cashier and approached a fairly looking old man.

“Oh, hello there miss. How can I help you?” The old man said with a kind smile.

Raven answered politely and asked about the flyer about the job requirements and if it’s still available; he answered that the spot is still vacant and explained the things she needs to do, and she can start next week if the process went okay.

The next day, Raven came back to give her resume and job applications, and then the old man whose name is Jeff gave her a tour of the place and described how things work. While she was half listening to Jeff, she saw in the corner of her eyes a strange man wearing a black fur coat, mind you that it’s summer right now and the weather is very humid, whistling an unfamiliar tune with an empty basket by his side.

He looked back and met eyes with Raven and gave her a teasing small grin. Weirded out by his act, Raven ignored him and focused on Jeff once again.
