SMAN 15 Surabaya is one of the favorite schools in Surabaya Besides achievers in academics, Libels, calls for SMAN 15 Surabaya, also has many non-academic achievements. This is supported by the extracurricular activities provided, one of which is traditional dance.

According to Deajeng Fereneza, as the chairperson and dance trainer at Libels, this dance extracurricular aims to make many children participate in learning traditional dance as Indonesian culture.

"In the past, extracurricular dances in Libels did not exist, because there were no trainers. Then I suggested to hold this extracurricular and I as the coach. My goal is to go to dance because I love dance since I was young and so that many children also come to dance."

Deajeng added, the existence of dance extracurricular activities in Libels is very good, because today there are very few teenagers who are interested in dance. Maybe only a few are interested, such as children who join the studio and children in the village. Today's young generation is more familiar with culture and dance from abroad than traditional regional dances in Indonesia.

This dance practice process requires enough time. Usually, dance practice brings regional dances like,

"The training schedule is Tuesday, but if there is an activity on that day, we can change it on another day, if we prepare for the competition, we practice intensively almost every day. We practice in the pendopo, building like gazebo, if the condition of the pendopo is not possible to use the exercise, we find a place that if possible we can practice."

Deajeng said, the traditional dance in Libels is still new, so there are still few achievements. Although a little, the achievement was very encouraging. Some of the competitions that have been won include :

"This dance extracurricular activity is relatively new and almost all of its members cannot dance. So, the process of training is all from zero. The key must be routine and diligent practice in order to get the best results."
